Ms. Cook is a mother of three beautiful daughters and four precious grandchildren. That's where you will find her spending her free time, with her family! She stated, "My mother, children and grandchildren have the biggest impact on my personal life. They inspire me daily to move forward with reaching my goals and fulfilling my dreams. Showing my daughters that women deserve to be celebrated for their extraordinary contributions to society, unmatched fearlessness and remarkable triumphs is all I need at the end of the day."
Ms. Cook is a "local," being a product of the Washington Parish School System, she graduated from Franklinton High School and Louisiana Technical College in Bogalusa. At this time, she serves as the Washington Parish Council Clerk. Where the clerk shall give notice of Council meetings to its members and the public, keep the journal of its proceedings, be official secretary for the Council and perform such other duties as are assigned to the position by the Charter or by the Council. In accordance with the Charter mandates and the State Law, Cook gives notice of all Parish Council regular meetings and seven council committees by posting the meeting agendas. The seven committees are Finance, Infrastructure, Personnel, Solid Waste, Road, Health Unit and Recreation. While maintaining a close working relationship with the Parish Executive Branch, Cook works with all government departments, especially the Transportation Department and Public Works. She also serves as secretary to the Washington Parish Planning Commission and acts as liaison for the U.S. Census. She is especially active in multiple community service projects outside of her current position in Parish Government. She was active for many years with the Franklinton Girls Softball Association. Currently she serves as Vice President with the Franklinton Chamber of Commerce, is a member-at-large with the Republican Parish Executive Committee (RPEC), she is the sitting President of the Republican Women of Franklinton Club, is a member of Louisiana Federation Republican Women (LFRW) and member of the National Federation Republican Women (NFRW). Ms. Cook was also recognized by the Police Jury Association for outstanding work for her willingness to work hard and go above and beyond what is asked of her as the Washington Parish Council Clerk.
